Job Description:
1.
SchedulingResponsible for Scheduling outpatient appointments for all ancillary departments according CSO protocol.
Enters all patient demographic information in the Soarian system prior to Scheduling the appointment.
2.
Pre-RegistrationResponsible for pre-registration of patients, patient interviews, and updating the hospital computer system with accurate information.
Interviews patients by phone to obtain all required information for hospital records and billing system.
Pre-registers all scheduled patients for pre-admission screening, inpatient and outpatient procedures according to department policies.
Verifies insurance coverage.
3.
Prior AuthorizationObtains prior authorization for any for any upcoming procedures requiring an authorization in a timely manner Maintains thorough knowledge of all Admission/Registration policies and procedures and is able to relay this information to other staff and hospital departments.
Actively assists in the continuing education of MD/office and various hospital personnel related to insurance issues and acts as, an accessible consistent resource Updates and maintains accurate catalogue of all available insurance requirements as related to the admitting function.

Registration/Check-inActs as a back-up for the Admission/ Registration functions which include patient registration.
Screens all registrations for compliance with appropriate utilization of services and compliance with Federal, State and third-party mandates for managed care.
5.
CommunicationCommunicates clearly and appropriately with patients, while demonstrating respect, courtesy, and sensitivity.
Complies with hospital and department Standards of Excellence for patient satisfaction are upheld.
6.
Order Processing/Ancillary SchedulesReviews all faxed orders and access medical notation for accuracy before Scheduling appointments.
Fax appointment confirmation to physician's office and provides p Prepares the daily schedules for O.
R, PAS, ENDO, and Radiology for accuracy and appropriate documentation.
7.
OtherPerforms other functions as needed, including various modes of communication and responding to patient, physician office, and insurance companies or their designated authorization clearance enterprises.
Follows HIPAA guidelines while maintaining confidentiality of all protected health information.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
High School graduate, two years post High School strong customer service experience.
Two years strong customer service required.
Hospital experience or doctor office strongly preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Typing, word processing and computer skills.
Medical terminology.
EMR strongly preferred.
Excellent written and oral skills.
Ability to proofread documents and check for accuracy.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
