The ideal candidate will manage both the Pre-Op/PACU and Operating Room (4 OR's).
Our teams support varied specialty procedures as Orthopedics, Plastics, Reconstructive, GYN and Ophthalmology.
We are open Monday -Friday, noweekends or designated NEBH Holidays worked.
Job Description:
Nurse Manager supporting the Surgicare Center,1 Brookline place location of New England Baptist Hospital is registered nurses with demonstrated expertise in orthopedics and/or perioperative nursing, leadership and management skills.
The Nure Manager is responsible and accountable for promoting and maintaining high quality, safe patient care.
The Nurse Manager provides administrative and clinical oversight for the assigned clinical practice area.
The Nurse Manager is accountable for the planning, leading, implementation and evaluation of patient care for the population assigned and works collaboratively with nursing, medical staff and the interprofessional team to optimize outcomes.
Promotion and cultivation of the professional practice environment, education, and research are a priority.
Nurse Managers are responsible for the effective utilization of human and fiscal resources to achieve high quality outcomes and retain valued staff.
Responsibilities of the NM include managing FTE's, budgets, audits, maintaining the environment, continuous improvement projects, patient experience, staff and physician relations and satisfaction, and performance reviews The NM collaborates with other disciplines to maximize patient care and services and works closely with the nurse executive team to assure 24-hour accountability for operational and clinical aspects of the practice areas.

Management of Personnel Interview and select candidates who have appropriate clinical skills and professional characteristics that match patient and program needs Communication on an ongoing basis regarding performance expectations.
Plan and conduct formal performance reviews that are timely and objective Interact with staff in a consistent, fair, timely, appropriate and decisive manner in accordance with hospital and nursing policies Promote development of staff through role modeling, coaching and mentoring of clinical skills, leadership skills, decision making, goal setting and academic/certification progression Responsible for the promotion and termination of employees based on standards of practice, standards of care, policies and procedures.

Management of Resources Responsible for staffing and the adjustments to reflect changes in care requirements, patient census, and staffing resources Collaborates with Executive Directors and Chief Nursing Officer to develop the annual budget using variance analysis, historical performance and predictors of change Adjusts levers as necessary to meet budget and/or productivity targets for cost effective quality care Analyzes financial information routinely, compete variance reports timely Monitors systems to assure cost-effectiveness by participating in the selection, utilization of materials and supplies and monitors charges Monitors and identifies issues within the care environment and seeks timely resolution Clinical Practice and Leadership Assures that patient centered care is delivered within NEBH established standards of evidence based best practices Leads, monitors, and maintains a highly engaged professional practice environment leveraging the NEBH professional governance structure and processes Highly engaged in Journey of Excellence work, coaching unit-based council progress Provides strong verbal and written communication to staff on a regular basis Supports, evaluates and manages the patient experience.
Rounds and is on point for compliments, concerns, complaints and grievances Evaluates clinical practice and identifies opportunities for improvement related to effectiveness and efficiency of care, service and education Highly engaged in all continuous improvement efforts within designated areas and organization and leverages clinical nurses throughout the process Collaborates with other members of the practice area and department in developing implementing, evaluating and revising practice guidelines, competencies, policies and procedures Demonstrates clinical knowledge by acting as a resource Ensures compliance with all applicable hospital, state, federal and accrediting agencies Education/Professional DevelopmentEnsures that all members are competent to fulfill their assigned responsibilities Communicates and consistently supports by behavior the philosophy and goals of the unit, department and hospital Coordinates and supports the orientation and preceptor program on their unit Assists in the evaluation of the competency-based orientation program and makes recommendations when updating is necessary Role models appropriate and effective conflict resolution strategies for staff Promotes staff participation in unit and hospital committees/task forces Collaborates with other members of management team in providing appropriate educational opportunities for licensed and unlicensed personnel Participates on and provides leadership to committees as requested departmental and hospital Supports the ongoing development of staff through coaching, mentoring and role modeling Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops Advocates for the spirit of inquiry, use of evidence based best practices and nursing research to enhance and improve the practice environment Directs and supports employees' daily work activities.

Assists with planning, monitoring and/or managing budget in functional area of department/unit Ability to communicate complex information in English effectively in writing to all levels of staff, management and external customers across functional areas.
Ability to verbally communicate complex concepts in English and address sensitive situations, resolve conflicts, negotiate, motivate and persuade others.
Ability to demonstrate broad and comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex and/or unprecedented situations across multiple functional areas.
Ability to manage collaborative teams for large project(s) or group(s), both internal and external across functional areas.

Ability to remain calm in stressful situations Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access Supports the planning and participation of clinical research Education and Credentials:
Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) is required.
MS is required.
Current/Valid professional nursing license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.
BLS, ACLS is required.
CNOR, AORN or ASPANa plus.
Experience and Skills:
Operating Room /Pre-Op/PACU experience preferred.
Minimum 2 years proven leadership required.
